UKIM understands the importance of the role of the Masjid in Islam. It is the centre of a community and a hub from which all can benefit from a spiritual, education and social point of view. This website has been developed to inform you of the various projects UKIM Rochdale, Madina Masjid is involved in through the help and support of the local community.
UKIM was established in 1962 and is one of the largest Islamic organisations in the UK. We are also a registered charity with a network of over 40 branches spread throughout the country. Our core activities include religious education for children, relief work, running masjid’s and Islamic learning centers, youth activities, inter-faith and community outreach work. UKIM is an affiliate of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), the umbrella body of Islamic organisations.
HISTORY
The history behind Madina Masjid goes back to the late 1970’s when it established a madrassha on Milnrow Road. As the community grew and the need for a local Masjid it was decided to move to bigger location in 1998. Over the years the need for expansion has grown and in 2012 internal works commenced and a large prayer hall was established on the ground floor and one on the upper floor. This allowed the masjid to cater for 250 people.
